Japanese Cashier Defrauds Over 1300 Customers By Memorizing Their Credit Card Details

A 34-year-old Japanese cashier identified as Yusuke Taniguchi, has been arrested for stealing the credit card information of over 1300 customers using his memory.

Yusuke, a part-time cashier at a mall in Koto City Japan, was allegedly born with a photographic memory and was able to memorize customers’ names, credit card numbers, expiration dates and security codes for later use.

According to several reports including Sora News 24, police stated that the suspect confessed to using the fraudulent credit card information to purchase goods that he would later sell at a pawn shop to cover his living expense.

In addition to a notebook which allowed police to tie him to countless illegal purchases, he also had several items shipped directly to his apartment, which was how the police were able to catch him.
